HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 cc622-3W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he has proposals for a reduction in the public support for adult residential colleges providing non-vocational educational opportunities.

Mr. Brooke

My right hon. Friend has no plans to reduce his recurrent grants to long-term residential adult education colleges for 1983–84. Public expenditure plans for 1984–85 are at present under review in the normal way and no statement can be made at this stage about the future level of support for these colleges.

Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he has proposals to increase the level of adult education provision; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

Public expenditure plans for 1984–85 are under review in the normal way; no statement can therefore be made at this stage about future levels of provision for adult education.
