§ Mr. Leighasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he is in a position to make a statement on the recommendations of the Director General of Fair Trading on the subject of the Consumer Credit Advertisements and Quotations Regulations.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherI have considered the Director General's report, and I accept his view that the advertisements and quotations regulations should apply equally to all financial institutions and other bodies engaged in house mortgage lending, and that regulation 8(2) of the advertisement regulations should be deleted. I propose to consult interested parties on the implementation of these recommendations.
