§ Ms. Harmanasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many grants of citizenship were made in the period 1 April 1982 to 31 March 1983 to people who had paid (a) £70, (b) £35 and (c) £200 with their original application.
§ Mr. WaddingtonIn the period 1 April 1982 to 31 March 1983 431 certificates of registration or naturalisation were issued to applicants who had each paid £200. Seven thousand, seven hundred and thirty-six certificates of registration and 157 certificates of naturalisation were issued to applicants who had each paid £70, but this 541W naturalisation total also includes a vary small number of applicants who had applied between 1 October 1976 and 28 February 1978 when the full naturalisation fee —payable at the time of grant—was £70.
Registration certificates were issued in respect of 1,090 fees of £35. This fee covers an application for one or more minor children, and it would entail disproportionate cost to ascertain the actual number of children registered.
