§ Mr. ChannonThe total deficit on trade in manufactures with the rest of the European Community over the period 1978 to 1982 was £12.4 billion on the balance of payments basis. On the same basis there was a total surplus on this trade of £0.8 billion over the three years 1970 to 1972; figures on this basis are not available prior to 1970.
