§ Mr. Meadowcroftasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether his Department has supported or been associated with any recent research into the needs of elderly people in the ethnic minorities.
§ Mr. NewtonThe Department has commissioned the centre for policy on ageing to conduct a short-term study on ways in which social services and volunteer activity might be organised to meet more directly the special requirements of elderly people in ethnic minority groups; Leeds is one of the areas being studied. In addition, the Department has supported a number of general studies relating to the ethnic minorities which concern elderly people as well as other age groups.
