§ Mr. Trotterasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many visits are paid each year by taxpayers to the office of the Inspector of Taxes at North Shields; and if he will estimate the total additional miles which would be travelled if the offices were closed.
§ Mr. Ridley[pursuant to his reply, 25 July 1983]: There is no record of the number of visits made by taxpayers to the office at North Shields. In the event of closure the nearest office of the Inspector of Taxes would be in Newcastle, 10 miles away.
