§ 44. Mr. Skinnerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will provide sufficient additional money to the north Derbyshire health authority in order to stop the closure of Morton hospital.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThe closure of Morton hospital was approved by the North Derbyshire health authority following wide consultation and with the agreement of the community health council.
The closure will therefore proceed, and it is not necessary for Ministers to intervene in this decision which has been taken quite properly by the local health authority responsible.
