HL Deb 21 July 1983 vol 443 c1356WA
Lord Melchett

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list those sites in Northern Ireland that have been listed under the "Ramsar Convention", what further areas are under consideration for listing, and when formal listing of these sites can be expected.

Viscount Long

Lough Neagh and the adjacent Lough Beg have been listed as a United Kingdom wetlands site of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. Strangford Lough and Lough Foyle are under consideration for listing, but it is not possible to indicate when this might be achieved.
