HL Deb 21 July 1983 vol 443 c1356WA
Lord Melchett

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What would be the approximate cost to public funds of agricultural subsidies for fencing, improvement and other operations on the Crown Estate common near Plynlimon were they to give approval for the fencing proposals that are now awaiting a decision by the Secretary of State for Wales.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office Baroness Young

The planting, fencing and land improvements proposed by the Crown Estate Commissioner could, if carried out in full, result in grant of the order of £50,000. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Wales has personally visited the site and his decision on the fencing proposals will be made shortly.
