asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the abortion and birth rates to teenagers in the Liverpool special areas; and what are these rates for England and Wales as a whole.

The birth rate for women aged 15 to 19 in 1981 is estimated to have been 28 per 1,000 for England and Wales as a whole and 44 per 1,000 for the Liverpool special areas.

The abortion rate for women aged 15 to 19 in 1981 was 17 per 1,000 for England and Wales as a whole. Information on abortions to women residing in the Liverpool special areas is not available.
