§ Mr. LawsonThe latest estimate of the public sector borrowing requirement in 1982–83 is £9,001 million. Public sector debt sales to the non-bank private sector, including national savings, British Government securities, tax instruments, Treasury bills and other public sector debt, totalled £8,352 million, £649 million less than the borrowing requirement.
