§ Mr. Maxwell-Hyslopasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are the detailed arrangements for releasing to British pig farmers surplus grain held in European Community intervention.
§ Mr. MacGregorIntervention wheat and barley is being sold by weekly tender to British pig farmers and other users under Community rules which allow sales at prices just above the relevant buying-in price, or at the level of local market prices if that is higher. Full details of these arrangements can be obtained from the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce.
A new scheme for the release of intervention wheat for use in animal feed in the 1983–84 season has been put forward by the Commission which has, however, taken no final decision on whether to introduce it.
