§ Mr. Tom KingComputers play a substantial role in the business of this Department, notably the major facility at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre but also in management information, highway design and maintenance, monitoring vehicle defects, payroll and many research applications. There are extensive plans to promote this, in major projects such as replacement of the DVLC installations and in smaller projects such as office communications and the trial computerisation of bookings for driving tests.
