§ The Prime MinisterThe number of proposed redundancies and work place closures notified under the redundancy handling provisions of the Employment Protection Act 1975 from 10 June 1983 to 12 July 1983 is as follows:
Establishments Employees (a) Notified redundancies 874 47,240 (b) Closures included in (a) 227 14,988 These figures include a substantial number of seasonal jobs.
Some notified redundancies do not in fact take place because of changes in circumstances during the advance warning period, but there is no statutory requirement to notify subsequent withdrawals.
