§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what percentage of retirement pensioners receive supplementary benefit.
§ Dr. BoysonApproximately 18 per cent. of retirement pensioners were claiming supplementary benefit at February 1983, the latest date for which figures are available. In addition it is estimated that about a further 3 per cent. were dependent on supplementary benefit because they were married women whose requirements and resources were aggregated with those of their husband for supplementary benefit purposes.
