§ Mr. Alexander FletcherMany of these practices are criminal offences under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and other law and no further legislation is therefore required. I hope that wide publicity will be given to the director general's findings and that borrowers who may be affected will seek independent advice and help the enforcement authorities to bring offenders before the courts.
