§ 42. Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will now introduce legislation to amend the Water (Scotland) Act 1946 and the Water (Scotland) Act 1980 in the light of the judgment of Lord Jauncey regarding the fluoridation of water in the Strathclyde region which rejected allegations that fluoride causes cancer or increases the risk of other serious conditions and ruled on the interpretation of legal complexities.
§ Mr. John MacKayLord Jauncey's judgment is at present being carefully examined. In view of the complex issues with which it deals it would be premature to reach any conclusion about amendment of the Water (Scotland) Act 1980, which consolidates the 1946 Act.
