Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) what was the total amount of coal imported to the United Kingdom from (a) the United States, (b) Canada, (c) Australia, (d) Africa, (e) Poland and (f) the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1981, 1982 and to the nearest available date in 1983;

(2) how many tons of coal have been imported to Scotland from the United States of America during the past 12 months.
