§ Mr. Cartwrightasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if his Department will encourage health authorities to recruit and train Vietnamese doctors in psychiatric medicine in order to deal with the increasing number of psychiatric problems affecting Vietnamese refugees.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeIndividual health authorities have to recruit suitable doctors to meet the needs of their populations and to provide the facilities for their training in association with professional organisations. I should however be happy to consider any representations on this subject from the hon. Member or from the voluntary agencies who have been most closely involved in the resettlement of Vietnamese refugees in the United Kingdom.
