§ Mr. Stephen Rossasked the Secretary of Stale for Transport if he will take steps to reduce the traffic congestion on those inner city routes, particularly in London, which are within his responsibility.
§ Mrs. ChalkerResponsibility for inner city roads rests with local highway authorities. In London the GLC has not dealt adequately with congestion. We shall be bringing forward proposals in the autumn for the abolition of the GLC. These will include the reallocation of its highway and traffic management responsibilities.
