HC Deb 07 July 1983 vol 45 c142W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider introducing legislation to tighten the safety regulations pertaining to privately administered swimming pools open to the public.

Mr. Macfarlane

I have been asked to reply.

Such legislation is unnecessary. Local authorities already have powers under section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to take action against the operators of private swimming pools which are operated unsafely.
