For 1982–83, authorities were told that they could increase expenditure on home improvement grants without limit and without the need for prior approval. Additional allocations will be made retrospectively in the light of outturn.
For 1983–84, authorities have been told that additional allocations will be available for expenditure on home improvement grants above an indicative figure notified them, and for expenditure on enveloping schemes approved in the year.
