HL Deb 04 July 1983 vol 443 c492WA
Lord Blease

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was:

  1. (a) the number of actual new jobs created; and
  2. (b) the number of jobs lost (persons made redundant),
during each of the last five years for which figures are available, by companies in Northern Ireland receiving selective financial assistance under the Industrial Development Acts.

The Minister of State, Northern Ireland Office (The Earl of Mansfield)

The information requested is not readily available and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. However, the net effect of the job flows requested is indicated by the change from year to year in the number of jobs in being in assisted firms which were created as a result of selective assistance:—
