HL Deb 28 January 1983 vol 438 c508WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they agreed to the text of the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, which is to be opened for signature by the member states of the Council of Europe on 21st March 1983 at 15.00 hours in Strasbourg, and when they will introduce legislation enabling them to ratify the convention.

Lord Elton

The text of the convention has been agreed at official level. We hope to decide shortly whether the United Kingdom should sign the convention. I cannot yet say when legislation could be introduced to enable the convention to be ratified.
