HC Deb 27 January 1983 vol 35 c520W
Mr. Parry

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how he now assesses the prospects for a fall in unemployment as a result of his economic policies.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

It has never been the practice of this, or any previous Government, to publish unemployment forecasts. Tackling inflation and improving the operation of markets are the essential prerequisites to creating sustainable, real improvements in job prospects.
