§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will investigate the activities of British companies to ascertain whether they are observing the draft code of practice for the marketing of infant formula adopted by the World Health Organisation in 1981 and supported by Her Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe draft voluntary code of practice drawn up by the Food Manufacturers Federation in consultation with Government Departments contains proposals for the establishment of an independent committee to monitor companies' compliance with the code. This document is currently out for consultation.
