§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Department does not issue advice on the provision of street lighting on non-trunk roads since this is a matter for decision by local authorities.
However, there is a British standard code of practice, BS 5489, which gives the relevant technical information for the design of road lighting. The results of research by the Department into the road safety aspects are also available to local authorities.
