§ Mr. Norman Hoggasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he now expects work to commence on upgrading the A80 at Cumbernauld; and what is the projected completion date.
§ Mr. Allan StewartConsultants have been appointed to consider options for the extension of the M80 motorway from Stepps to Haggs, including the upgrading of the existing A80. The consultants' interim report is being considered, but it will be some time before a decision can be made on the preferred option. It is therefore unrealistic at this stage to predict a date for a works start or for completion of the scheme.
