As explained by my officials in evidence to the House of Commons Defence Committee in October, all operational contingency plans are being 169W reviewed to establish clear guidelines for the handling of the media in times of tension and war. The details of accreditation, transport and communications will vary in the light of differing operational circumstances. Guidelines will be discussed with editors as the review of contingency plans progresses over the next few months.
