HC Deb 18 January 1983 vol 35 c117W
Miss Wright

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the number of acute hospital beds which are occupied by geriatric patients who could, if places were available, be accommodated in geriatric hospitals or residential homes for the elderly; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

Because of the wide variations in the condition of individual patients it is not practicable to produce a meaningful estimate of numbers of those in one form of care who might suitably be transferred to another.
