§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he intends to lay the order giving independence to St. Kitts-Nevis.
§ Mr. OnslowThe Government of Saint Christopher and Nevis propose that the draft constitution should be debated in the House of Assembly towards the end of March. If it is approved, I would expect a draft Order-in-Council to terminate the status of associated statehood to be laid in Parliament before the Whitsun recess.
§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has received about the draft constitution agreed at the commonwealth conference on St. Kitts-Nevis.
§ Mr. OnslowSince the constitutional conference held in December, three hon. Members and one member of the public have written about the draft constitution and related issues. Each has received a reply. The substance of the replies was similar to that given in my reply to a question by the hon. Member for Hamilton on 20 December.—[Vol. 34, c.327–328.]
