§ Mr. Hendersonasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he has conducted any recent survey on the effect of noise on the local communities arising from the use of the Royal Air Force base at Leuchars; whether he is proposing to give special assistance for sound insulation; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WigginA noise survey in the vicinity of RAF Leuchars was carried out in 1982 by the RAF institute of community medicine. The results are being examined to see whether the introduction of a scheme to pay grants for sound insulation of dwellings near the base is justified. I hope to make an announcement shortly.
