§ Lord James Douglas-Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will consider introducing legislation for Scotland containing similar provisions on the right to purchase to those in the Housing and Building Control Bill.
§ Mr. Allan StewartThe Housing and Building Control Bill is in many respects concerned with aspects of the Housing Act 1980 which differ in approach from the Tenants' Rights Etc.(Scotland) Act 1980. In addition some of the changes being made will bring the position in England and Wales closer to the existing position in Scotland. However, where changes are made which would be applicable to the existing legislation for Scotland we will certainly consider adopting them in due course.
