§ Mr. McQuarrieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will arrange to discuss with the convenor of the Scottish National Farmers Union pigs committee the European Community pigmeat regulations with a view to lessening the problems within that sector of the farming industry.

My Noble Friend the Minister of State has recently discussed this subject with the president of the National Farmers' Union of Scotland, and officials of my Department are in frequent contact with the union's convenor and officials to discuss matters relating to the pigmeat market.
