§ Mr. Kaufmanasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the necessity of waiting for 1981 census data in order to review the list of local authorities recognised as having special urban problems, he will ensure that recognition of any more local authorities does not have to wait until the availability of 1991 census data.
§ Mr. KingDesignations under the Inner Urban Areas Act 1978 can be made at any time, although I do not propose for the time being to add to the authorities named in my statement on 15 February—Vol. 37, c. 161.] Census information is an important guide in reviewing designations, but it is not the only consideration or the only source of information.
