§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will consider financial support to the proposed research project on factors predisposing to stillbirth and neonatal death, which is contemplated by the international centre for child health at Bristol.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThere is much competition for the Department's research funds, and after considering the priorities for research to be commissioned during 1983, we were unable to allocate funds to allow the project 417W for a national perinatal pathology survey from Professor Neville Butler of the department of child health at the University of Bristol to proceed this year. I understand that Professor Butler is now considering a revised research application to the Medical Research Council.
