HC Deb 22 February 1983 vol 37 c402W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received from the Welsh consumer council concerning the development of an integrated transport service in Wales, and the Welsh Office's role in such a change; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Stradling Thomas

My right hon. Friend recently received a letter from the Welsh Consumer Council which puts forward the view that the consideration of transport policy in any area should be on an integrated basis, and that, subject to certain provisos, the Welsh Office should take on responsibilities for the allocation of Government financial support for the railways in Wales.

We are considering the letter and I shall let the hon. Member have a copy of the reply.
