asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many redundancies have been notified to his Department since September 1982; and what is the present total (a) in the Wolverhampton travel-to-work area and (b) in the west midlands.

There are no comprehensive statistics of redundancies. The numbers of redundancies, in groups of ten or more, reported to the Manpower Services Commission as due to occur in the requested areas in each month since September 1982, are as follows:
