HC Deb 21 February 1983 vol 37 cc304-5W
Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action has been taken to implement the recommendations of the review of prison allocation procedures, the Government's acceptance of which was announced in their reply to the fourth report from the Home Affairs Committee, Session 1980–81.

Mr. Mellor

The report of the review has been the subject of widespread consultation within the prison service. We are at present following up the detailed recommendations aimed at improving the procedures and documentation for categorisation and allocation decisions, and facilitating recategorisation and transfer to lower security establishments in the course of sentence.
