HC Deb 21 February 1983 vol 37 c299W
47. Mr. Sever

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what extra aid will be made available to non-governmental voluntary agencies in 1983–84 following increased estimates in the Government White Paper on expenditure 1983–84.

Mr. Rifkind

The Government intend to increase the aid available for the work of voluntary agencies and will be seeking Estimates provision of £7,106,000 for 1983–84. This is 13 per cent. more than the original main estimates provision for 1982–83. Further supplementary provision will be considered during the year (when the rate of expenditure on the British volunteer programme becomes clearer), but it is too early to say by how much the final provision for 1983–84 will exceed that for 1982–83.
