HC Deb 21 February 1983 vol 37 c309W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Minister for Trade what measures have been introduced to prevent quota evasion after the multi-fibre arrangement III negotiations.

Mr. Peter Rees

All of the new bilateral agreements which establish quotas contain a clause under which the supplying countries and the Community agree to cooperate fully in preventing the circumvention of the agreements. It gives the Commission the right to negotiate, and if necessary to impose, deductions from quotas to take account of any imports from the third country concerned which it is found have come into the Community fraudulently.
