HL Deb 18 February 1983 vol 439 c497WA
Lord Blease

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will indicate how many people in Northern Ireland were placed in jobs (other than sponsored training arrangements) by the Employment Service during each of the last three years for which figures are available; and what percentage these represent of all the job engagements in the Province.

The Earl of Gowrie

The numbers of people in Northern Ireland who were placed in jobs by the Employment Service during each of the last three years are as follows:

1980 1981 1982
23,441 17,020 19,280

It is not possible to show what percentage these represent of all job engagements in the Province as the department does not maintain records of jobs filled through agencies, or through advertisements in the press or professional journals, et cetera.
