§ Mr. Woolmerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in view of the changes proposed in the report of the review of the collection service, he will consider mounting a short experiment to monitor the number of occasions between 18 February and 5 March when the collection offices at (a) Taunton and (b) Huddersfield contact employers paying pay-as-you-earn and national insurance contributions per month (i) in excess of £15,000 and (ii) between £3,500 and £15,000.
§ Mr. Ridley[pursuant to his reply, 10 February 1983, c. 437]: No. The Inland Revenue is satisfied that the closure of some collection offices proposed in the review of the collection service will not impair its ability to make contact, where this is necessary, with employers in the categories mentioned.
