§ Mr. Woolmerasked the Minister for Trade if he has any plans to introduce further legislation relating to the privatisation of British Airways in the near future.
§ Mr. SproatThe Civil Aviation Act 1980 already makes provision for the privatisation of British Airways. The Government intend to privatise British Airways as soon as practicable. The British Airways Board has in addition asked the Government to consider a reconstruction of the airline's capital and debt structure. This would be likely to require additional legislation. The Government have not yet accepted any commitment to a capital reconstruction.
