§ Mr. HayhoeAt 1 January 1983 there were 652,500 staff in post—520,300 non-industrial and 132,200 industrial; that is a reduction of 2,500 since 1 October 1982. The number of civil servants has fallen by 79,800, or 10.9 per cent. since the Government took office.
