Whether in their opinion the newly announced USSR Law on the USSR State Border is compatible with international law, particularly its Articles 6(4), 17, and 34.
§ Lord BelsteadThis legislation was passed by the Supreme Soviet in November 1982 and will, we understand, come into force on 1st March this year. The articles referred to by the noble Lord follow to some extent earlier Soviet legislation. They are now being studied, and I will write to the noble Lord when this has been done.
