HC Deb 10 February 1983 vol 36 cc458-9W
Mr. Les Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what provision he has made for the monitoring of toxic chemical effluent discharge from industrial and other premises during the current water workers' industrial action, in order to prevent such premises from failing to comply with regulations and requirements governing such discharges through employing less costly disposal methods.

Mr. Giles Shaw

Water authorities are maintaining their monitoring functions as fully as possible in respect of trade effluent and river water quality as well as the quality of water for public supply during the current industrial action. No serious pollution problems have been reported.
