HC Deb 10 February 1983 vol 36 c455W
24. Mr. Molyneaux

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will make a statement on the provision of temporary employment in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Adam Butler

Two Government schemes currently provide temporary employment in Northern Ireland—the action for community employment—ACE—scheme with a target of over 3,500 full and part-time jobs and enterprise Ulster offering 1,250 full-time jobs, both on projects of benefit to the community.

Additionally, a number of other schemes sponsored by the Department of Economic Development offer a variety of training opportunities with the youth training programme offering a mix of both training and work experience.

At the end of December, 23,100 people were benefiting from all these measures.
