§ Mr. Higginsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list any public companies in the United Kingdom whose creditors have been given a Government guarantee that the company's debts will be paid.
§ Mr. Brittan[pursuant to his reply, 8 February 1983, c. 319]: The Government have not given any general guarantees to creditors of public companies in the United Kingdom that the company's debts will be paid. However, they have given assurances that the liabilities of the following limited companies will be met: BL, Rolls-Royce, International Military Services, Harland and Wolff, and Short Brothers.
