§ 39. Mr. David Atkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards Turkey's membership of the Council of Europe.
§ Mr. HurdWe are in favour of Turkey remaining a member of the Council of Europe. We think the membership of the Council can help forward the return of Turkey to a democratic system.
